Flower Preservation Process

1. Book your place or purchase a preservation product 

To get started, you can book your place to have your flowers preserved from a wedding or event taking place in the future by paying a £40 non-refundable deposit. Alternatively, you can pay up front for your preservation by purchasing any of our available preservation products. 

Which should you choose?

The reservation and deposit works well for events taking place a month or more from the current date. Paying up front makes more sense if your event has either already passed, or is happening in the next month. When making your deposit, or paying up front, we will discuss which pieces you’d like for preservation. 

2. Send us your flowers

We will get in touch to arrange sending us your flowers. If you’re local to Gloucestershire (we’re based in Cheltenham) you can drop off your flowers. If you’re based elsewhere in the UK then posting the flowers is your best option.

We will send you our guide for posting the flowers to us safely.

Crucially, we need your flowers within a few days of the event, otherwise the flowers will start to wilt.

3. Complete your purchase 

If you paid a deposit, you will need to purchase the full preservation package once your flowers are dry. This usually takes two-four weeks after we receive the flowers. We cannot start making the piece until full payment has been made. 

4. Choose your design

Before starting the final piece, we will send you a few design options to choose from. This only applies to block pieces, excluding tealight holders and spheres. 

5. We make your piece

This can take up to 6 months depending on the size of your order and how busy we are at any given time. We do not give an estimated completion date, but will keep you updated on the process! Important notes 

Please note that Elderflower Fern is run by one person (hi, I’m Lorna!) which means there can be delays in the busiest seasons. Every piece is completely unique, and may take longer than expected, which is why we can’t give out expected completion dates. Please don’t expect to have your piece back by a specific deadline. 

I will try my best to keep you updated throughout, but the easiest way to see how your piece is going is to pop me a message via email. I answer my emails every day so will get back to you with updates and photos as soon as I can. 

All of our preservation pieces are made by hand, and there may be small irregularities in the final piece, such as bubbles. This is unavoidable and will not take away from the beauty of your piece. Don’t worry - we’ll never send out a piece that isn’t as close to perfect as it can be!
