Terms of Service

By booking your date, you agree to the following terms of service.

I am so greatfull you’ve decided to use Elderflower & Fern to have your special flowers preserved. Hopefully you have now had a chance to read through the information pack and shipping instructions, and have a clear idea of how this process works, and what you need to do to ensure your flowers arrive to me safely. I guarantee I will preserve your flowers to the best of my ability, rushing no part of the process and making sure each order gets the same love, care and attention. In return, there are a number of important points that must be understood to ensure this process goes smoothly and we both have accurate expectations for the final outcome.

Timeline

As you will hopefully have read in the information pack, there is no guaranteed timeline for flower preservation. My general goal is to have orders finished in 12 months, but this is an estimate, not a deadline, and it is common for orders to exceed this especially in busy seasons. I understand you want your flowers back as soon as possible, and will work to the best of my capacity to ensure there are no unnecessary delays during the process. One of the reasons my timeline is long is because I colour-correct every flower individually to ensure your finished piece looks as good as it possibly can. Not many artists offer this, and therefore their timelines may be much shorter. Please note, there will be no refunds or concessions given if the timeline of your order exceeds 12 months. Please do not expect your order back by a specific date.

Expectations of colour

I colour-correct nearly every order using the photos you send me and that I take when the flowers arrive to ensure the colours of your dried flowers are as close to the fresh bouquet as possible. This is often necessary as flowers fade and change tone during the drying process. This does not guarantee they will be the exact same shade, but they will be as close as I can make them. If you have any concerns about the colour please make this known when I send your design approval contract. Please note, resin is a chemical, and during curing (when the resin turns from liquid to solid with your flowers encased inside it) a chemical reaction occurs. This can sometimes cause the flowers to change in appearance, including colour. Colour correction combats this to a certain extent, but this is ultimately unpredictable and some minor colour changes may still occur.

Expectations of communication

In order to spend as much time as possible working on your orders, I have to limit my time spent sending and responding to emails. This is why I send out a monthly update email rather than individual updates to every customer. I am still happy to respond to specific or urgent requests outside of this main update email, but please allow a few business days for me to respond. I love talking to you about your flowers, and don’t worry we will have plenty of chance to discuss your designs and flowers once I start to colour-correct and design your order. Until that point, I won’t have much to update you on regarding your flowers.

Expectations of flower shape

Depending on when the flowers arrive, they may be slightly wilted or they might be almost fresh. Wilted flowers will dry differently than very fresh flowers. Each type of flower deteriorates at a different rate - some flowers such as roses might stay fresher much longer than flowers such as peonies. Please be aware that if flowers have wilted slightly they may not look as ‘perfect’ as other fresher flowers when preserved.

Expectations of quality

I use the best quality materials available to me, which ensures all resin blocks are almost perfectly clear with very minimal bubbles. Please understand this is very hard to achieve and my work is objectively very high quality. I say this not to brag, but to emphasise that the very minimal amount of bubbles and imperfections that may be present in your piece are extremely normal and do not detract from the quality of the piece. It is almost impossible to remove all imperfections during the curing process. The same applies to the final finish of the piece. Resin is a very tricky medium and though I use the best resin to top coat your pieces, and will sand down and repeat this process until it’s the best I can make it, there may still be slight imperfections such as dust specs or tiny hair specs, and this is generally unavoidable. Pieces may also not be 100% level due to their handmade nature. I put in so many hours work to ensure imperfections are minimal, and appreciate your understanding that I cannot eliminate them all.

Thank you for reading!

Preserving your flowers is a privilege, and I am so happy you have booked with me. In return, please try to be respectful and understanding throughout the process. I value your feedback at any time throughout the process and am always making changes to ensure you are happy and well-informed throughout.

If you have any questions or concerns, or if you are not happy with these terms and would like to cancel your order, please let me know and I will be happy to refer you to another artist.
